How to Clean Your Microwave with Lemon!

BY DAN @KitchTool - WEDNESDAY 22th APRIL 2023

Cleaning the microwave can be a daunting task, but with the right tools and techniques, it can be a breeze. And you might already have one of those tools in your kitchen: a lemon! Lemon is a natural cleaner that can help remove stains and odors from your microwave. Here's how to do it.

Why Use Lemon to Clean Your Microwave?

Lemon is a natural cleaner that is effective in removing stains and odors. It's also eco-friendly, non-toxic, and safe to use around food. Plus, it leaves a fresh citrus scent that will make your microwave smell great.

Steps to Cleaning Your Microwave with Lemon:

Step 1: Cut the lemon in half and squeeze the juice into a microwave-safe bowl.

Step 2: Add some water to the bowl. You don't need a lot, just enough to cover the bottom of the bowl.

Step 3: Place the bowl in the microwave and turn it on high for 3-5 minutes, or until the water starts boiling.

Step 4: Let the bowl sit in the microwave for a few minutes to allow the steam to loosen any stains and odors.

Step 5: Carefully remove the bowl from the microwave using oven mitts or a dish towel, as it will be hot.

Step 6: Wipe down the inside of the microwave with a damp sponge or cloth. The stains and odors should come off easily.

Step 7: For stubborn stains, dip the sponge or cloth into the lemon-water mixture and scrub the affected area.

Step 8: Once you're done cleaning, rinse the sponge or cloth with water and wipe down the inside of the microwave again to remove any leftover residue.

What to Do with the Lemon Afterwards?

Don't throw away the lemon after you've used it to clean your microwave! Here are some ideas on what you can do with it:

  1. Use it as a natural air freshener. Place the lemon halves in a bowl and leave them in your kitchen to absorb any lingering odors.

  2. Use it to clean your cutting board. Cut the lemon in half and use it to scrub your cutting board. The acid in the lemon will help remove stains and kill bacteria.

  3. Use it to make lemonade. Squeeze the juice out of the lemon and mix it with water and sugar to make a refreshing drink.

Cleaning your microwave with lemon is a simple and effective way to remove stains and odors. It's also eco-friendly, non-toxic, and safe to use around food. So next time your microwave needs cleaning, try using a lemon instead of harsh chemicals.
